Are You Ready For The Jump?

A portion of the following anecdote is found in my book "A Matter of Life or Death."

You and I are traveling on a large plane 30,000 feet up in the air. This particular plane is filled with exciting earthly pleasures and entertainment. The adult beverages are flowing, the kids are playing in a large ball pit and toward the back of the plane a band is playing rockin tunes by request. If that weren't enough, our choice of movies seem endless and the elaborate food buffet including, lobster-tail, organic veggie or steak wraps, hot oven-baked pizza and a wide array of house chowders is fabulous. And the fun doesn't end with great food. On this flight, a live theatrical production of "My Fair Lady" is wowing an audience on the third floor.
Then it happens. You hear the captain make a brief announcement over the intercom. He informs us that the plane has lost a portion of its right wing and the plane is going to crash.
You look out the window and notice fire and smoke trailing off the wing as we continue to rapidly descend.  Kids and adults alike begin screaming and yelling as mass terror seems to erupt all around us. Suddenly, amid all the panic something wonderful happens. The captain comes back on the intercom system and informs us that there is a parachute located just beneath each seat.  This is good news (you can stop screaming).   So now we've learned there is a parachute under the seat....do you put yours on?

You may not have tomorrow, the next hour, or another minute to be alive.  God promises judgment against all wickedness and evil.  I want you to be ready to meet your Maker.  In Hebrews 9:27 it is written, "it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment."  No one is good enough to enter God's presence because of our sin.  "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" which is God's perfect standard (see Romans 3:23).  See how you measure up to God's standard here.
If you hadn't already guessed it, the 'parachute' in the anecote above represents Jesus Christ---God manifest in flesh.   God Himself through His Son paid the penalty for sin on a cross.  He died for us so that we might be free.  After three days, He rose from the grave defeating death and sin.  You must repent and put your trust in Him (as you might trust a parachute to save you from physical death).  It is not the faith itself that saves you but Jesus Christ and Him alone who can save you because of what He accomplished when we couldn't.  SavedFromTheWrath.com
